I’m so excited to be sharing these South Congress Engagement Photos with you! Ever since I moved to Austin, I was happy to see that there were so many places I could photograph couples for their engagement photos. From downtown, to the fun nature trails in the greenbelts, there are so many options! One spot that has always been a go-to is the strip down South Congress!
The photo above was taken in the courtyard just outside of Manana Coffee. Usually there are tables and chairs set up, but we got there before they opened so we lucked out in having the whole courtyard open! The photo below is in a small walkway just behind the building. I didn’t expect to take photos here, mainly because I didn’t know this place existed! As soon as we passed by, on our way to our second location, I just knew we had to incorporate the symmetry of this concrete bench. They also had lighting under the lip! Like where has this place been my whole life?!
On this engagement shoot We chose to go on a Sunday at 7:30AM! Why? I knew that I didn’t want people in the background. I also didn’t want to compete for space so this was our best bet. I always get a little nervous asking couples about early morning sessions but Mackenzie and Emmanuel were all in! I was so excited that we would have the whole strip to ourselves. And guess what? We did! There wasn’t a soul in site!
Of course we couldn’t walk away without getting the very iconic shot walking across South Congress. We waited for the street light before we crossed, and I ran ahead of them to find the frame before I had them walk into the photo. Learn more about booking your own engagement session on my homepage!
We knew we couldn’t walk away without getting a photo under the Austin. Motel sign! These usually have fun little phrases that I like to incorporate into the shoot.
This is a little nook I found a while ago. The whole sidewalk is filled with greenery, and the walls are covered in vines! I asked Mackenzie & Emmanuel to rest against the wall, and they made magic.
